Laurent Levy, President

 Laurent Levy is the son of the late Dr. Edith Levy who was a Holocaust survivor and the visionary behind the founding of the West Virginia Commission on Holocaust Education, serving as its first chairperson. A co-author in the forthcoming book "Holocaust Education in America: Pedagogy and Politics," he holds undergraduate degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music and SUNY Brockport, and graduate degrees in Jewish Music from Gratz College and Anthrozoology from Canisius College. He is currently a Ph. D. candidate in the Holocaust and Genocide Studies program at Gratz College.

Barb Lewine, Vice President

Barbara A. Lewine is a founding member of the West Virginia Commission on Holocaust Education, a former chair, and its current Holocaust Education consultant. A passionate and lifelong advocate for Holocaust education in West Virginia for more than twenty years, she attended The International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, educational lectures at the USHMM, and is co-author in the forthcoming book "Holocaust Education in America: Pedagogy and Politics." As program director for Classrooms Without Borders in Wheeling, she coordinated and led educational travel to Holocaust sites including Treblinka, Majdanek, Auschwitz, Birkenau, Warsaw ghetto, Krakow and more. In addition to being a passionate advocate for Holocaust education, Barb holds a master’s degree in social work and specialized in medical and hospice work.
